Kailashahar is a municipal council city, the headquarters of the Unakoti district in the Indian state of Tripura. It is located along the Bangladesh border. Kailashahar is the district headquarters of North Tripura district of Tripura. It lies to the southern tip of the state and shares its border with Bangladesh. Kailashahar is a historic town and many believe that it has been witnessing generations right from the 7th Century AD. Closely associated with Unakoti (known for centuries old stone and rock images), Kailashahar was the ancient capital of the Tripuri Kingdom.
