The sanctuary lies at the foothills of the Eastern Himalaya in the East Kameng district. You will find a huge number of species of birds and animals that blend so well within the beautiful natural environment. In 2002, the Government of India declared that the sanctuary be considered as a tiger reserve. This is the reason why the park is sometimes referred to as the Pakhui Tiger Reserve and houses quite a lot of tigers.
